The default router IP addresses most people want to know more about today is certainly 192.168.1.1. The sole reason for this is the fact that two of the major brands in the router industry are using it as a default IP for the routers they produce, Linksys and Netgear. This IP address is in the private IP range – 192.168.0.0 – 192.168.255.255.

192.168.1.1 – A Private IP Address
For those not familiar with the term private IP address, here is a short explanation.
A Private IP is the IP address which belongs to the IP address range reserved for private use we have just mentioned above. Basically devices with such IP can’t be accessed from the Internet or outside the network they belong nor they can connect to the Internet directly. For direct Internet access it is necessary to use a NAT device.
Default login details for routers which use 192.168.1.1
The login details presented below will help you gain access to the routers configuration utility. Additionally there is a chance that you have typed something wrong. The login details are also case-sensitive, so be careful. You can also search for a username and password for specific router model on the manufacturer’s official website or contact your ISP.
192.168.1.1 is the Linksys router IP. Linksys is one of the leading manufacturers in this field and certainly plays a key role in the popularity of this IP address along with Netgear and TP-link. If you want to access a Linksys router, try the following username/password combinations.
For username try the following ones: Administrator, admin, comcast or simply leave the username field blank.
In the password field you can type the following: 1234, admin or leave this field blank too.
Netgear generally uses 192.168.0.1 as a default IP for their routers. However this company uses 192.168.1.1 as a default IP, too. These routers usually use admin for username and password for password. Please note that some older models use 1234 as a password.
If you own a TP-link router you can easily access its settings if you type admin in both the username and password fields.
